John Swett Elementary, New Vista Also Received Threats Wednesday

St. Catherine's remains closed today.

John Swett Elementary School and New Vista Christian School also received email threats Wednesday, according to Martinez school district superintendent Rami Muth. Both schools remain open, with a higher police presence and tighter security.

"This letter is identical to the ones received by St. Catherine's and New Vista School and is from the same individual who sent the fax and email to Alhambra High School and Concord High School," Muth said in a recorded announcement. "The police do not believe that this is a credible threat and school will remain open with increased police and district presence on all campuses. Β We are asking all visitors to sign in at the office, even those who will be attending Β parent conferences. Β I want to encourage you to attend the upcoming forum on school safety on November 3rd in the Alhambra High School Library from 6:30 - 8:00."

St. Catherine's remains closed today as a result of the threat, though it may resume classes tomorrow. Β
