Man Crashes Vehicle Down Embankment Near Antioch

The accident occurred about 9:15 am on Marsh Creek Rd - near Deer Valley Rd - south of Antioch. An injured occupant was flown to John Muir.

UNINCORPORATED BRENTWOOD - Fire crews had to extricate a man whose vehicle traveled down an embankment and crashed into a tree in unincorporated Contra Costa County Monday morning, according to the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District.

A helicopter flew the man to a hospital for treatment of his injuries after the crash, which occurred at 9:13 a.m. on Marsh Creek Road, east of Deer Valley Road, according to the fire district.

After the crash was reported southwest of Brentwood, fire crews responded and had to temporarily close the road while the lone occupant was extricated from his vehicle. He suffered injuries to his lower extremities, according to the fire district.

The man was taken to the trauma center at Walnut Creek’s John Muir Medical Center.

There was also a dog in the vehicle that was not hurt.
