Marijuana Grow House Fire Causes $15k In Damages
A blaze Thursday afternoon kicked off a single-alarm fire response at a marijuana grow house in Martinez.

MARTINEZ - A blaze kicked off a single-alarm fire response at a marijuana grow house on Thursday afternoon in Martinez, according to Contra Costa County Fire Protection District officials.
The fire was initially reported in the garage of an unoccupied residence in the 1500 block of Ortega Drive, Fire Marshal Robert Marshall said.
The call came in at 4:51 p.m., fire officials said.

Responding crews found the blaze both in the home's garage and also extending to the exterior of the residence, Marshall said.
Crews reportedly brought the blaze under control by 5:28 p.m.

Marshall said there were no injuries but the fire caused an estimated $15,000 in damage to the home, which he said was determined to be the site of a marijuana growing operation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Martinez police could not immediately be reached for information on arrests connected to this incident.
