Martin Luther King, Jr.'s 'I Have A Dream' Speech

In honor of the civil rights leader's birthday, here is the full version of his most famous speech.

On August 28, 1963, civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. stood at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. and addressed hundreds of thousands of people who had marched on Washington to urge the country to abolish Jim Crow laws. Dr. King's 'I Have A Dream' speech is considered one of the most important speeches in American letters, and it electrified Americans at the time, helping to turn attention and sympathy toward the civil rights movement.

Martinez Patch is pleased to present the full speech here, in honor of Dr. King's birthday today.
