Martinez City Council To Discuss Name Of New Park
The city accepted 29 applications and a petition from residents regarding name choices. Find out which name is recommended.

MARTINEZ, CA — The Martinez City Council will decide Wednesday on the name for the new park being developed on Pine Meadow Drive.
The city accepted 29 applications and a petition from residents regarding name choices. This information was presented to the City’s Parks, Recreation, Marina and Cultural Commission (PRMCC) in October.
The Commission is recommending the name Karkin Park to the City Council. Karkin represents a language spoken by the Carquins, a local tribe who resided in the Carquinez Strait area in the early 1800s.

The public is welcome to attend or listen in on the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m.
The new park’s design and budget are also on the agenda for Wednesday.
