New RV Parking Restriction In Place At The Marina Lot

RVs are no longer allowed to park in City Lot #3, but they are allowed in the boat trailer for a maximum of 14 days.

The new parking restriction that prohibits RVs from using City Lot #3 -- the Marina parking lot -- is now in effect.

Police Chief Gary Peterson said that the new restriction allows RVs to park in the boat ramp lot for a maximum of 14 days, after which they cannot park there for six months.

"Lot #3 is not designed to handle RVs," Peterson said. "We've had numerous reports of RV owners dumping materials illegally, and the vehicles themselves leaking fluids onto the lot. If these vehicles and their owners are going to impact the enjoyment and use of the park for others, then something has to be done."

Peterson noted that the new restriction is not an ordinance, but part of the city's municipal code, which allows the city engineer to determine if there is a health or safety issue involved regarding city streets or parking lots.

"We've worked with the harbormaster to find a place for RVs when people want to visit our Marina in RVs," he said, "but it’s not a hotel. If people want to follow the rules, they’re welcome to stay in the appropriate space."

The new rules read as follows:

Vehicles need to check in with the Harbor Masters Office prior to staying in the park.

Daily permits (if staying more than three (3) hours are $8.00.

Overnight parking permits are $15.00 per night.

Park is closed from 10:00pm until 6:00am every day.

Vehicles without permits will receive a citation and will be subject to being towed.
