Outcast Cat Help Fundraiser A Success

Martinez-based Outcast Cat Help raised $7,100 at their 2nd annual "Purrs & Spurs" fundraising event to help fund a new pilot program to microchip feral cats.

More than 70 guests and 20 volunteers attended the western-themed event, held September 29 at Tavern on the Greens at the Pine Meadows Golf Course in Martinez. 

With the new “Snip, Tip and Chip” pilot program, Outcast Cat Help will microchip each community cat in its Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) projects.  

“Community (stray/feral) cats are almost always euthanized if they end up at our animal shelters because they are afraid of humans and therefore unlikely to be adopted.  Just like owned cats, community cats have ‘homes’ - small geographic territories like a park, business or backyard - where they live.  It's important to get community cats out of our shelters and back to their ‘homes’ because it saves lives, saves taxpayer money and frees resources for adoptable animals,” said Julie Linford, founder and executive director of Outcast Cat Help.

Outcast Cat Help is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization dedicated to helping the community humanely control and care for the stray and feral cat population. The organization is 100% volunteer operated with no paid staff.  Since 2007, the organization has spayed and neutered over 1,400 cats in our community.
