Poll: What Kind Of Tree Do You Have This Year?

It's the season of getting and decorating a tree. What kind of tree is in your tradition?

Many people display a tree during the holidays, all gussied up and prettified. Others don't have a tree as part of thier holiday traditions. But if you do, tell us what kind you have, and share a picture of it.Β

Maybe you or a loved one ventured into the wilds of a tree farm, and cut one down. Or perhaps, as in my family, there was a tree lot with that perfect tree already cut and ready to be tied to the roof of your car. Or maybe you have the kind of tree that can be stored and used again and again.

In our house, the tree must be a Noble or Douglas Fir, and it must be large enough to fit years of ornaments that have been given as gifts over many years. There are few things in life that make my wife happier than decorating the tree with her family. This, of course, raises my own joy levels by quite a bit.Β

The one point of controvery tends to be the music by which we decorate the tree. My very favorite Christmas album is Bob Dylan's, which he released last year to either the horror or delight of music fans everywhere. To me, this album launches me into the spirit, and I make no apologies for loving every song on it. However, no one else shares this view. My mother in law loves the Nate King Cole/Bing Crosby albums, but the kids will have none of it. So last night, we selected Amy Winehouse's amazing album, the second one, which my step daughter has discovered only recently and absolutely loves.Β

I must say, it makes a fine soundtrack for tree decoration, though it's a safe bet the late singer never considered this a possibility.Β
