MARTINEZ, CA — Winter is officially here and rainy weather is in the forecast for Martinez.

If you need to bolster your property, residents can grab their shovels and fill sandbags at the following locations.

  • Contra Costa County Public Works, 2475 Waterbird Way
  • Nancy Boyd Park, Pleasant Hill Road and Church Street
  • Municipal Swimming Pool, end of Buckley Street, upper parking lot
  • F Street (west end, just past Alhambra High School)
  • coroner of Ferry and Allen Streets

Sandbags should be filled halfway, with the top folded down, according to the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes. Lay the sandbag to rest on the folded top and limit stacking to three layers unless a building is propping the stack up, according to the alliance.
