Teacher's Aide Arrested For Assaulting Boy With Special Needs

Kamaljot Kaur, 26, was arrested on suspicion of child abuse after a video on the Internet surfaced allegedly showed her striking the boy.

ANTIOCH - Police in Antioch have released a mug shot of the teacher’s aide accused of assaulting a boy Tuesday at a school for students with special needs.

Kamaljot Kaur, 26, was arrested on suspicion of child abuse on Wednesday, police said.

The arrest stems from a video that surfaced on the Internet and allegedly shows staffers at Tobinworld II at 2330 Country Hills Dr. laughing while Kaur strikes a 9-year-old student several times.

Several staff members have also been suspended in connection with the incident.

Police said the victim did not have any visible injuries or complaints of pain.

Officials with the Antioch Unified School District said the video came to the district’s attention Wednesday.

A statement issued by Tobinworld officials reported an anonymous call was received around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday informing administrators of the video.
