What Do You Think Of Sofia The Lion Tamer? Take Our Poll, And Tell Us In The Comments

Should we see this young girl as brave, or as recklessly taunting an animal in captivity?

Martinez is a city with a love for animals and children. A recent video on Youtube has sparked a debate about both, and we want to know what you think.

Sofia Walker is a three-year-old girl from New Zealand who was visiting the Wellington Zoo not long ago. She found herself staring at a hungry lion named Malik who had just been given food. The lion, not inclined to share said food, stared back at the young child, growled a warning, and finally pawed at her through the thick glass.

Sofia reacts slightly startled, but seemingly unafraid as the lion threatens her. A woman, presumably her mom, tells her to step back, but Sofia keeps on starting at the lion, clearly fascinated and clearly unafraid.

Some praise Sofia for her bravery, and say she portends well for the future of women, and of humanity in general. Others say she should be taught respect for animals in captivity, that were it not for the glass, the outcome would have been tragic.

What do you think? Take the poll, then tell us in the comments.
