A Reason to Stay Off the Lawn
Menlo Park's Public Works department will put herbicide on civic center lawns next week.

department is advising people to stay off the civic center lawns next Tuesday for about 12 hours, after they spray the grass with herbicide.
City employees will be spraying the grass on Laurel and the rest of the grass by the civic center next week with Turflon to kill dandelions and other undesirable plants.
"It's an annual thing that we do that doesn't kill the grass," said David Mooney, Parks and Trees Supervisor for the city.
Mooney said that the task would have been completed today, were it not for the rain.
"We don't spray it when it's rainy, because the Turflon will just wash away," Mooney said.
