Caltrain Strikes Car in Menlo Park

All northbound and southbound Caltrains were delayed from 10-90 minutes Friday, after a southbound train struck a car on Ravenswood Avenue in Menlo Park. 

"MP collision appears to be non-fatal," tweeted @caltrain about the incident that happened at about 5 p.m. Menlo Park Firefighters arrived at the scene within minutes.

Northbound and southbound trains were stopped on the tracks at 5:10 p.m.

"SB train from before 5:20 still holding at Redwood City. No NB 267 yet...," tweeted @caltrain at 5:39 p.m.

The southbound 264 is the one that hit the car. Firefighters were debating how to tow the vehicle away at 6:04 p.m. Ravenswood Avenue was closed to traffic.

According to tweets from people who were on the train that hit the vehicle, the train was stopped on the tracks for about 45 minutes. It resumed course again at 6:13.

Trains began to use both north and southbound tracks at reduced speeds through Menlo Park at 6:29 p.m.
