Facebook Plants Roots in Menlo Park

Volunteers commit time to make Belle Haven Elementary a better place to go to school.

Only months after it relocated from Palo Alto, Facebook is putting down roots in Menlo Park—literally.

The social media titan is parnering with a forestry non profit called Canopy to plant 37 trees at Belle Haven Elementary today.

About 60 volunteers from the school and Facebook are expected to attend the event, which begins at 9 a.m.

“We are honored to bring this tree planting to Menlo Park," said Catherine Martineau, Canopy executive director

“As we begin our second year of our major initiative to plant trees at schools, it is exciting to partner with and the community to make a real and long-term difference at ," she said.

Canopy is planting the trees there to improve air quality in the area and make the school a more pleasant environment in which to attend classes.
