PG&E Hosts Pipeline Safety Forum

Status reports of improvement projects to be presented.

Representatives from PG&E and the California Public Utilities Commission will be in Palo Alto on Thursday to discuss various reforms that were made in response to the 2010 gas pipeline explosion in San Bruno.

The Gas Pipeline Safety Forum will allow PG&E and the CPUC to present status reports on various steps that were taken to improve the safety and operation of the region's gas pipeline infrastructure since the San Bruno explosion, which killed eight people and destroyed dozens of homes.

Residents will have the opportunity to hear presentations about safety improvements in their neighborhoods, including high-pressure testing, repair work, and new state regulations.

CPUC executive director Paul Clanon and PG&E vice president of public safety and integrity management will be making presentations and answering questions from the public.

Assemblymen Jerry Hill (D-San Bruno), Rich Gordon (D-Menlo Park), and Paul Fong (D-Cupertino) are co-hosting the event.

The forum is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. at Palo Alto City Hall, located at 250 Hamilton Ave.
