Police Officers Battered Behind Molly Magees
Suspect kicked officers in the legs and knees.

A Menlo Park man has been arrested after he allegedly kicked two Mountain View police officers Friday, the department reported Monday.
"Neither officer suffered injury, but they complained of pain," said Liz Wylie, spokeswoman for the about the incident, which occurred after an officer on foot patrol approached the rear of at approximately 12:52 a.m. on June 8 and came upon a fight or argument.
The suspect, Victor Ruelas, 26, had been pulled outside behind by a nightclub security officer because a female accused him of strangling her, according Wylie. She didn't suffer any visible injuries but did complain of pain. She couldn't provide "a clear statement due to her level of intoxication," Wylie said.

As one police officer spoke to the victim, age 23, the suspect pulled away "in an effort to flee" from the other officer who tried to question him, Wylie continued.
"The officer grabbed the suspect's arm and the two fell to the ground where the suspect began kicking the officer from the ground," Wylie said and added that the officer with the victim moved to help the officer with the suspect. "The two officers struggled to gain control of the suspect and handcuff him. They were both kicked multiple times about the legs and knees."

A third officer arrived to help, and the suspect suddenly decided to comply with the officers commands and to stop resisting and fighting, Wylie said.
Ruelas was booked into county jail for battery, battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.
