School District Hires Traffic Safety Consultant

Kathy Schrenk will be organizing biking and walking clubs to reduce traffic.

The Menlo Park City School District will be encouraging students to bike to school next academic year, with a bit of help from Encinal Parent Kathy Schrenk.

Schrenk is the district’s new Transportation Safety Consultant.

The San Mateo County Office of Education awarded the district a grant this year that will support the creation of programs that promote alternative forms of transportation and reduce traffic around schools.

Schrenk will be organizing bike safety clinics and creating walking and biking clubs for all of the four schools in the district.  She will also unfurl a web-based system that will enable parents to carpool with others in the district.
