Update: Highway 280 Opened, Plane Towed

CHP spokesperson released information about the pilot's emergency landing.

All lanes of Highway 280 are open, now that the plane that with a Mercedes Sunday night has been removed.

The pilot of the Cessna was forced to make an emergency landing on just south of Edgewood Road Sunday night after its engine engine failed, according to California Highway Patrol.

The engine had recently been replaced, so the pilot was taking it for a test run.  It is not clear why the engine failed.

The plane has been towed to the San Carlos Airport, so an investigation of the engine can begin.
