Three Seats Open for City Council
The application deadline for candidates is Friday.

Members of the public interested in running for one of three open seats in the Millbrae city council must file paperwork by the end of the week to to be considered in the fall election.
Three council members’ seats, those of Dan Quigg, Marge Colapietro and Paul Seto are up for reelection. So far, only Colapietro will seek reelection.
Quigg said that he wants to spend more time with his family and give others the opportunity to participate in city government.

In addition to his current term, he served as mayor from 1996-1997 and 1999-2000 and he was city treasurer from 1980 to 1993.
Colapietro, now vice mayor, started as a council member in 2007, as did Paul Seto.

“I want to see some fresh faces in the city council,” Seto said. He also wants to spend more time with his family. “My kids are growing up so fast.”
Along with Colapietro, only former mayor Robert Gottschalk and planning commissioner Lorrie Kalos-Gunn have filed the necessary paperwork, according to Elena Suazo, interim city clerk.
The deadline for all potential candidates to send documents of intent for city council is Aug. 12. Interested members of the public should contact Elena Suazo at 650-259-2334.
