Mill Valley Advances Affordable Housing Plan: Report

But the proposed 40-unit development faces organized opposition, The Marin Independent Journal reports.

MILL VALLEY, CA — The Mill Valley City Council is advancing a proposed affordable housing project amid an organized effort to stop the plan in its tracks, The Marin Independent Journal reports.

The City Council on Monday unanimously voted in support of authorizing the city manager to develop a negotiating agreement with EAH, a San Rafael-based nonprofit, with which it is partnering on the proposed 40-unit development, the report said.

Opponents of the proposed project at 1 Hamilton Drive have garnered 1,200 signatures for a Save Hauke Park petition, the report said.

Opponents of the proposal say it would create traffic and parking issues and that a large building wouldn’t fit the neighborhood’s character, the report said.
