There are protests planned for this day across the country, including Marin County.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — Communities nationwide, including in Marin County, will protest on Oct. 18 what they claim is corporate and congressional corruption.
On Oct. 18, there will be another #NoKings protest in response to what organizers said is President Donald Trump escalating his authoritarian agenda, threatening to deploy additional militarized forces into U.S. cities, expanding the detention and encampment of immigrants, and even suggesting that “maybe [America would] like a dictator.”
There is a protest planned for Mill Valley from 10-11:30 a.m. Oct. 18at 40 Camino Alto.

Groups organizing the No Kings peaceful protests across the country include the ACLU, American Federation of Teachers, Common Defense, 50501, Human Rights Campaign, Indivisible, League of Conservation Voters, MoveOn, National Nurses United, Public Citizen, SEIU, United We Dream, among others.
“Throughout our history, America has dreamed of, fought for, and yearned after freedom, freedom afforded to all people,” said Human Rights Campaign President Kelley Robinson. “But it’s clear that this most fundamental value is of no interest to Donald Trump. Since taking office, he has tried to erode our freedoms and amass power for himself, censoring history, undermining our voting rights, defying the rule of law, and stripping people of basic rights simply because of who they are or who they love. But this country does not and will never have a king. The power of the people is and will continue to be greater than the man obsessed with keeping power for himself.”

On June 14, over 5 million people nationwide joined No Kings in the largest single-day protest against Trump. Oct. 18 marks the next coordinated mobilization for this movement.
“Trump wanted a coronation on his birthday, and what he got instead was millions of people standing up to say NO KINGS. No Kings Day on June 14 was one of the largest mobilizations in American history, and it’s grown into a broad, diverse movement,” said Ezra Levin, co-founder and co-executive director of Indivisible. “While Trump escalates his attack with occupations of American cities and secret police forces terrorizing American communities, normal everyday people across this country are showing up every single day with courage and defiance.”
The protesters demands are:
- Stop the billionaire takeover corrupting our government.
- Protect and defend Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and programs for working families.
- Fully funded schools, healthcare, and housing for all.
- Stop the attacks on immigrants, Black, Indigenous, trans people, and all our communities.
- Invest in people, not endless wars.
On Oct. 18, organizers said thousands of communities across America, including Marin County, will be in the streets outside the offices of the corporate criminals who bankroll this corruption, and outside congressional offices that enable it.
“The No Kings protests are a chance for We the People to resist the rampant abuses of power happening daily by this government, which continues to strike at the pillars of our free society,” said Deirdre Schifeling, ACLU’s chief political and advocacy officer. “The president and his administration are abusing the power of the presidency — trying to instill fear and use the power of the government to crush those who disagree with him. But Americans are brave, freedom-loving people.”
There is also a protest planned for Novato from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at 901 Sherman Ave.
