Pet Fair to Honor 9/11 Search Dogs
California Rescue Task Force 3 and their K-9 units are set to be honored at the Marin Fairgrounds in San Rafael Saturday.
A ceremony at this weekend's pet fair in San Rafael will honor search dogs who responded to the scene at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, fair organizers said.
The Bay Area Pet Fair and "Adapotathon" is ready for pets and their owners to attend this Saturday at 11 a.m., the day before the 10th
anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
At 11:30 a.m., six members of the California Rescue Task Force 3 and their K-9 units will be honored at the fair. Organizers say 9/11 was the largest deployment of search dogs in United States' history.

Most search dogs used in the recovery period months after the towers fell died from cancer, most likely caused by inhaling toxic chemicals while working at Ground Zero.
Also at the fair there will be free micro-chipping and rabies shots for pets and the fair hopes to encourage pet adoption.

The fair, hosted by the Marin Humane Society and Pet Food Express, takes place at the on Civic Center Drive in San Rafael.
