A Richmond teen is facing a robbery charge after a reported fight at a private dance party at the last week turned into a foot chase in the Freeman Park area by .

The suspect, 19-year-old Orlando Stubblefield of Richmond, evaded police Friday night but was arrested when he reappeared at a Ryan Ave. home Saturday morning, apparently hoping to retrieve the wallet he allegedly stole from a local resident the previous night, according to police Sgt. Paul Wrapp.

Stubblefield was one of approximately 20 people involved in a fight at the community center when police were called to the scene at around 10:50 p.m. Friday. Police arrived and separated the parties and were told by a local resident that her wallet had been stolen.

Wrapp said police chased the alleged robber towards Sycamore Ave. but were unable to catch him. They did, however, locate the wallet in the backyard of a house on Ryan Ave. near Freeman Park.

At 9:15 a.m. Saturday, a man went to the door of a Ryan Ave. home asking to retrieve a ball from the backyard. The resident suspected he was looking for the wallet that police found in her backyard the night before and called police.

Officers arrived at the home before the suspect, who Wrapp said matched the description provided by the robbery victim Friday night and who was later identified as Stubblefield, had departed. He was arrested on suspicion of robbery, violating his probation violation and public drunkenness.

Wrapp said Stubblefield was later identified by the victim as the person who stole her wallet. Police received a subsequent call from the Ryan Ave. resident, who said a neighbor found clothes in her garbage can and thought they were related to the incident. Police determined that Stubblefield had ditched some of his clothes Friday night, Wrapp said.

Stubblefield is expected back in Marin Superior Court Aug. 23 to enter a plea. He remains in custody on $50,000 bail.
