Citizens Academy Starts With Milpitas Police

The academy that shows the inner workings of the police department starts up Sept. 30 and runs through Oct. 23.

MILPITAS, CA — Calling all those with an appreciation and fascination with how a police department functions.

The Milpitas Police Department is starting its citizens academy Sept. 30, which lasts until Oct. 23 on Mondays and Wednesdays. The hours are set from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Courses will range from SWAT, crime scene investigations, K9 program, DUI probes, dispatch and records as well as "shoot/don't shoot" scenarios.
