Crash Into Hydrant At E Calaveras & N. Milpitas Created Fountain
Milpitas crews responded to a crash at Calaveras & No Milpitas boulevards, in which the car hit a pole, tree and hydrant now shut down.
MILPITAS, CA -- A crash involving a vehicle hitting a fire hydrant caused a temporary hazard at about 2:35 p.m. at North Milpitas and East Calaveras boulevards. It has since been cleared and mopped up with a partial lane closure.
Milpitas fire, police and public works responded to the scene where the water shot high in the air. The fire hydrant was shut down by city public works at about 4:05 p.m.
Apparently, a young driver "lost control of her vehicle" when it hit a pole, the hydrant and a tree before coming to rest. The driver got out of the vehicle and walked around but was taken to the hospital to be checked out, Milpitas police Sgt. Joe Hewlen indicated.
