Dog Dies, Four Displaced From East SJ House Fire

Two other dogs were displaced from the one-alarm fire on McKinley Court Monday night.

SAN JOSE, CA -- A dog has died and four people have been displaced following a one-alarm fire at a home in East San Jose late Monday night, according to fire officials.

The blaze was first reported at 11:20 p.m. at a home in the 3400 block of Mt. McKinley Court, according to San Jose Fire Department Captain Mike Van Elgort. Van Elgort said crews contained the fire around 11:45 p.m., which was also complicated by a downed wire from the home to a power line.

Two other dogs were also displaced with the residents, who are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

No other residents or firefighters were injured in the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
