Double Homicide Suspects Arrested: San Jose Police Claim

The suspects were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of shooting to death two other San Jose residents on Sierra Road from last May.

SAN JOSE, CA -- Two San Jose residents were arrested on suspicion of the homicide of two people in connection with a shooting on Sierra Road in San Jose on Wednesday night, police reported Thursday.

Jose Luis Benitez Sanchez, 23, and Jacob Andrew Martinez, 21, are accused and were taken into custody for the shooting deaths of 21-year-old Emilio Salazar and 24-year-old Jennifer Martinez - also both of San Jose.

San Jose police officers responded to a person shot in the 3800 block of Sierra Road at 10:03 p.m last May. Arriving officers located adult male and female victims suffering from at least one gunshot wound each. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

An almost year-long follow up investigation by homicide Detective Elizabeth Ramirez and Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office Criminal Investigator Mike Montonye led to the identification of the above listed suspects.

The suspect Sanchez was in custody at Folsom State Prison on unrelated charges and was served with an arrest warrant for two counts of murder and another of shooting from a vehicle at a person outside of a vehicle, San Jose police revealed.

The other suspect, Martinez, was in custody at Santa Clara County Jail on unrelated charges. Martinez was served with an arrest warrant for one count of accessory to murder.
