Home Burglars Arrested on Seacliff Drive

Milpitas Police arrested three San Jose teenagers on Tuesday for allegedly breaking into a home on the 2200 block of Seacliff Drive.

Police responded about 11 a.m. to a call from the resident, who said he heard someone knocking loudly on his front door, according to police reports. The resident didn't answer, and soon saw two of the suspects climb over his fence into the backyard. The resident yelled at the suspects, who quickly fled. He then called 911 and gave police descriptions of the suspects and the silver Honda Civic they drove away in.

Police stopped a car leaving the neighborhood that matched the residents' description. The three inside were detained and the resident identified the suspects and car as those at his home, according to police reports.

The three 16 year-olds, all of San Jose, were arrested for attempted burglary and conspiracy and transported to Milpitas Police Department, according to police reports. Two of the suspects were linked to burglaries on May 29 and 30. All three were booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall. Their names are not being released because they are juveniles. 

Milpitas Police said the method used by these suspects is common to residential burglaries. Robbers often knock or ring the doorbell to see if someone is home. If not, they often will go through the backyard, find an open door or window, or break into the home. If someone answers the door they often will say they are looking for a person or lost pet.

Residents should call police and provide detailed descriptions of people and vehicles, including license plate numbers, if this happens to them.
