SAN FRANCISCO — The Santa Clara County Library District is teaming up with the San Francisco Giants for a special Library Day at Oracle Park on Monday, April 7, offering fans a chance to celebrate both their love of reading and baseball.

As the Giants take on the Cincinnati Reds, the event will spotlight the work of local libraries with an in-game public service announcement and a pregame gathering at China Basin Park, where library staff will sign up visitors for library accounts.

Fans who register for a new account will receive an exclusive library card featuring the Giants’ logo.

“Spring baseball is back, and this is a fantastic opportunity for library patrons to show their support for literacy while enjoying America’s pastime,” library officials said in a statement.

The pregame festivities will run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Oracle Park, with first pitch set for 6:45 p.m.

As part of the partnership, $5 from each ticket purchased through a special link will go toward the library foundation, helping to fund special programs, materials, and services across the district’s eight libraries and Bookmobile service.

Fans are encouraged to take public transportation, including Caltrain, which stops a block from Oracle Park, or BART with a transfer to the SFMTA Muni line.
