Man Arrested After Walmart Parking Lot Pursuit
When Milpitas police saw an apparent stolen car, the driver fled, crashing into a police cruiser twice.

MILPITAS - Police arrested a man early Monday morning in a Milpitas parking lot after he struck a police car twice while driving a stolen vehicle.
At around 2 a.m., officers noticed a blue 2000 Subaru Outback parked in a Walmart parking lot at 301 Ranch Drive, police said. Officers checked the vehicle’s license plate and discovered it had been reported stolen.
When officers saw a man enter the vehicle and start the engine, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, according to police. The driver however accelerated the vehicle backward, striking the officer’s patrol car and damaging it.

The driver then accelerated forward, striking three parked vehicles, police said.
Officers pursued the suspect through the parking lot, before he made a U-turn and struck the patrol vehicle again, this time head-on.

Afterward the suspect was unable to escape and he was detained.
The driver, identified as 49-year-old Kenneth Gadberry of San Jose, was arrested on suspicion of felony evading, assault with a deadly weapon on an officer, possession of stolen vehicle and possession of stolen property, according to police.
None of the officers were reported injured.
