Milpitas Hostage Situation Ends With Arrest: Police

Police eventually persuaded the suspect to release the woman and a SWAT team forced entry into the apartment.

MILPITAS, CA — A 47-year-old man was arrested after holding a woman hostage for five and a half hours Saturday, Milpitas police said.

The standoff began about 3:15 p.m. when officers were called to a domestic dispute in an apartment in the 1000 block of Hillview Court, police said in a social media posting.

Officers heard a fight and attempted to force entry, but found the door barricaded with appliances, police said.

Gabriel Ramirez was accused of domestic violence, false imprisonment, assaulting a police officer, assault and battery, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of an illegal weapon, police said.
