Milpitas Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery of Guns, Drugs
Police said James Jovan Thomas was also on parole.

MILPITAS, CA — A traffic stop Wednesday night in Milpitas led to the discovery of a loaded gun and drugs in a vehicle driven by a Campbell man, police said. James Jovan Thomas, 27, was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm, being a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen checks, unlawful possession of another person's identity information and parole violation.
At 9:44 p.m., a Milpitas Police Department officer stopped Thomas on Great Mall Drive for driving a car with an expired registration. Police said Thomas was on parole through the California Department
of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
During a search of the car, officers located a loaded .45 caliber handgun, several rounds of .45 caliber ammunition, more than five grams of cocaine, numerous forged identification cards and stolen checks, police said. Thomas was taken into custody without incident.
