• Man convicted of San Jose rape faces life sentence due to sex crime history in Norway (eastbaytimes.com) — A man convicted of rape in San Jose is being held at the Elmwood men’s jail in Milpitas and could face a life sentence because of prior rape convictions in Norway. Jurors found him guilty in a 2022 assault case, and the judge will weigh his international record at a sentencing hearing expected next year. 
• With Measure A, Campbell moves into the ranks of California's highest-taxed cities (localnewsmatters.org) — Milpitas shoppers will see their sales tax rate climb to 10% or higher under Santa Clara County’s newly approved Measure A, which boosts funding for the public hospital system. The temporary increase runs through 2031, stacks on top of existing local taxes, and could rise further if a separate transit tax is approved in 2026.
