SAN JOSE, CA — Mineta San Jose International Airport is flying high on growth, reaching a crucial milestone last week in commissioning a $58 million Interim Gates Facility, which was designed and constructed to support current and near-term passenger increases.

Airport personnel was joined by more than 200 city, business, and design and construction trade partners for the grand opening of the new Gates 31-36 concourse, which is attached to the south end of Terminal B.

The event was launched by a ribbon cutting, sparkling-cider toast, musical entertainment and tours of the new gates and tarmac led by the airport's Director of Aviation John Aitken, who was joined by a number of dignitaries including Southwest Airlines’ Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Andrew Watterson. Southwest provides more departures and arrivals than any other carrier.
