SJ Man Arrested, Accused Of DUI Mangles Car: Police

The man was uninjured in the 4th of July Milpitas crash, but his car didn't fare well after it hit a pole, knocking out power to the area.

MILPITAS, CA — A 22-year-old San Jose man who was uninjured in a crash that mangled his vehicle was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence shortly after 4th of July started, the Milpitas Police Department reported.

The solo-vehicle crash that occurred at 1:32 a.m. on the 3000 block of Calaveras Road struck a utility pole, knocking out power to the area until at least mid morning and blocking traffic in both directions from Piedmont to Downing roads.

The driver of the brown 2003 Toyota Avalon was identified as Andrew Nguyen Morales, who was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.
