Was Your Trash Picked Up Monday?

Collectors honored picket lines and didn't make their usual rounds.

If your trash wasn't picked up Monday, look for the big trucks to rumble through today after workers with Republic Services/Allied Waste honored a picket line at the landfill to support workers in Indiana.

A picket line formed at Republic Services/Allied Waste facilities in Milpitas on Monday to back fellow union members who are locked out of their workplace in Evansville, Ind. over a contract dispute, according to a press release. Trash collectors returned to their jobs this morning.

Those who declined to cross picket line include: Members of Teamsters Local 350, members of Teamsters Local 70 who drive for Republic/Allied out of Alameda County, members of Teamsters Local 350 who work for other area companies and deliver to Republic's Milpitas facility, and members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and Ironworkers Unions who are constructing a new recycling facility at the site, according to the press release.
