Watsonville Man ID'd In Fatal Crash In San Jose Saturday
The man died in the Saturday night crash when a vehicle allegedly struck his parked on the shoulder, ejecting him.

SAN JOSE, CA -- A man killed in a San Jose crash on Saturday has been identified as 18-year-old Noe Fernandez Ortiz of Watsonville, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.
The crash was reported at 10:45 p.m. Saturday after a Ford Mustang traveling at a high rate of speed on the right shoulder of northbound U.S. Highway 101 crashed into a Honda Civic also stopped on the shoulder, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP Officer Ross Lee said the Honda had car trouble and pulled over onto the shoulder just south of Trimble Road. The Mustang struck it from behind, causing it to spin and eject the Honda driver onto Trimble. Ortiz died at the scene of the crash and two passengers in his car suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Mustang, 29-year-old Andres Emilio Flores-Avendano of Santa Clara, was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Ortiz's family is now trying to raise money for his funeral expenses. They have created a Facebook donation page and have reached about $947 of their $1,000 goal as
of this morning.
"He was the best caring loving young man always with a smile on his face," Ortiz's cousin wrote on the donation page. "This is still hard for us to believe."
