Amazon Fresh Announces April Opening Date In Mission Viejo

MISSION VIEJO, CA — Mission Viejo will welcome a new Amazon Fresh supermarket in April, the city confirmed Wednesday. After supply chain-related delays, the supermarket will kick off with a grand opening ceremony on Thursday, April 14 at 4 p.m.

The supermarket will be located at 26940 Crown Valley Parkway, which once housed an OfficeMax location. In May, Raising Cane’s, a fast food chain specializing in crispy chicken fingers, is scheduled to open a 3,400-square-foot drive-through in the same location, the city said in a Facebook post.

Amazon Fresh is an online and brick-and-mortar grocery store that allows customers to check out items through an app and a high-tech Dash Cart that syncs with the app to facilitate checkout. The chain has expanded rapidly throughout California since it opened its first location in Woodland Hills in September 2020. It now operates over 20 locations around the state, including in Irvine, which is currently the only Orange County location. In addition to Mission Viejo, the chain plans to open a location in Huntington Beach in the near future.

The Mission Viejo location is currently hiring for a number of part-time and full-time positions.
