Boy Arrested In Fatal Stabbing Of Man In Mission Viejo

A teen suspected of fatally stabbing a 21-year-old man in a Mission Viejo apartment on Wednesday was arrested, police say.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — A boy accused of fatally stabbing a man in the victim's Mission Viejo apartment on Wednesday was arrested on suspicion of murder, the Orange County Sheriff's Department said Thursday.

Sheriff's deputies were dispatched around 2 p.m. Wednesday to the 27000 block of Camden after a woman found her brother bleeding on the couch, police said. The victim was identified as Cristopher Bahenabaylon, 21, suffering from a stab wound to the chest.

The victim died at the scene, police said.

Deputies detained a person of interest at the scene. He was later identified as a boy who lived in the same apartment complex as the victim.

He was booked into Orange County Juvenile Hall. His name and age was not released as a result of the ongoing investigation, OCSD Lieutenant Matt Timmins told Patch.
