From the city of Mission Viejo:

The city of Mission Viejo’s Marine Adoption Committee has received a $10,000 donation from the Patrick Burke Foundation. The funds were raised during the 3rd Annual Patrick Burke Foundation Memorial Celebration in August at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.

The Patrick Burke Foundation was created by friends and family members of Patrick Burke to honor his legacy of giving. During his lifetime, Patrick was involved in many charities but always had a special place in his heart for the men and women who serve our country.

The Marine Adoption Committee provides year-round support to Mission Viejo’s adopted Marines and Sailors and their families by sending weekly care packages to deployed troops, collecting gowns for female Marines and Marine wives to wear at the annual Marine Corps Ball, offsetting the cost for entry-level Marines to attend the annual Marine Corps Ball, coordinating an annual “Day at Lake Mission Viejo” event for Marines and their families, providing emergency monetary assistance to Marines and their families, hosting baby showers and providing gift baskets to expecting mothers, and presenting quarterly recognition to outstanding Marines.

Generous donations like the one bestowed by the Patrick Burke Foundation make such support for our troops possible. For more information about the Marine Adoption Committee, call 949-470-3061.
