Drunken-Driving Warning Wins Award for Mission Viejo High

MVHS students take top honors for a "perfectly done" public service announcement.

beat out 350 entries to take the top prize at the nation's oldest student film festival earlier this month.

"The Perfect Night," a cautionary tale about drinking and driving, earned $1,000 for the school and a grand prize for the video's creators.

California Student Media Festival Director Mike Lawrence offered high praise for the students responsible for the video.

“It was extraordinary," said Lawrence, who also said the video features "great performances from the two lead actors," Kelley Moody and Kenny Davis.

Austin Caruana directed and edited the video.

“I’ve seen a lot of PSAs over the years," Lawrence said, "but this is so perfectly done—they had sets, they had costumes, they clearly thought it out shot-by-shot."
