Fatality On 5 Freeway After 3-Car Crash In Mission Viejo

MISSION VIEJO, CA — One person was reported dead Wednesday night after three cars crashed on the Interstate 5 freeway traveling southbound through Mission Viejo, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash was reported at 10:51 p.m. on the freeway near Crown Valley Parkway, authorities said. The identity of the deceased person is not known.

Three cars were involved in the crash, which left one car turned onto its back wheels and another car completely flipped over, according to the CHP log.

As of 11 p.m., one lane on the freeway was open while authorities assess the scene.
