More 5 Freeway Closures Scheduled For Mission Viejo Through Wednesday
The closures will affect nighttime traffic as a part of an ongoing freeway widening project. Here's what to know in Mission Viejo.
MISSION VIEJO, CA — Mission Viejo residents, be aware: construction on the Interstate 5 freeway is scheduled for this week, with closures affecting two parts of the freeway running through Mission Viejo.
This week, residents can expect closures on the freeway heading south between El Toro Road and Alicia Parkway on Tuesday from 11 p.m. to 5 p.m. as part of the Orange County Transportation Authority's freeway widening project.

On Wednesday, the freeway will be closed traveling north between Alicia Parkway and El Toro Road. The closure will last from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., according to OCTA.

According to a news release, crews will be onsite installing 12 girders, each roughly 126 feet long and weighing roughly 166,000 pounds.
Motorists using the freeway should expect delays and use alternate routes, the City of Mission Viejo said in a statement.
