Providence Mission Viejo Listed Among Best Hospitals In The World, Newsweek Says

MISSION VIEJO, CA — Four Providence hospitals in Southern California were named this week among Newsweek's World's Best Hospitals 2023, a ranking that measures quality, safety, patient satisfaction and other factors in health care.

In Orange County, Providence Mission Hospital earned the recognition for the fifth straight year. The hospital has two campuses in Orange County, one in Mission Viejo and the other in Laguna Beach.

Providence St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton was also honored for the third consecutive year.

“Being included in a list with so many of the world’s top hospitals is humbling, and I thank all our doctors and caregivers for the work they do to ensure the best possible patient experience,” Laureen Driscoll, interim chief executive of Providence South Division, said in a news release. “As a long-time nurse, I truly appreciate the Providence commitment to caring for patients with compassion, skill and innovation, and that translates to great outcomes.”

The ranking's methodology was developed by Newsweek and Statista to ensure the quality and validity of the ranking. Four data sources were used for evaluation, including:

• Hospital recommendations from Medical Experts: an international online survey sent to more than 80,000 doctors, hospital managers & health care professionals.
• Patient Experience: survey of patient satisfaction with hospitalization.
• Patient Reported Outcome Measures: surveys measuring patient satisfaction with hospitals.
• Hospital Quality Metrics: patient safety, hygiene measures, waiting times and quality of treatment.

The World's Best Hospitals 2023 recognizes the best medical institutions across 28 countries, including the USA, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Spain, Brazil, Canada, India and more.
