SigAlert On 5 Freeway: Gas Leak Shuts Down Off-Ramp
The SigAlert was issued at 10:10 a.m. Thursday and will be in place for an undetermined amount of time, California Highway Patrol reported.
MISSION VIEJO, CA — A gas leak on the California State route 5 traveling south near Avery Parkway in Mission Viejo resulted in a SigAlert Thursday morning as authorities responded to the scene, California Highway Patrol reported.
The freeway off-ramp near Avery Parkway is shut down for an undetermined amount of time. Also shut down are Camino Capistrano and Avery Parkway, and eastbound Pasea de Colinas and Star Drive, reported Orange County Sheriff's Department.
According to CHP dispatch, OCSD Laguna Niguel and Orange County Fire Authority have been called to the scene to assess the gas leak. The gas leak is located in the area of Camino Capistrano and Paseo de Colinas, according to OCFA.

OCFA reported at noon that the gas company is currently onsite to stop the leak.
The freeway's off-ramp closure resulted in slow-moving traffic traveling south Thursday morning, and residents are advised to steer clear from this area of the freeway while the SigAlert is in place.
