305-Foot Home Run Win for Mission Viejo Softball

Alyssa Palomino won a game and a tournament with a single swing of the bat Thursday at Alicia Park, according to the Orange County Register.

Palomino took full advantage of a change-up from Capistrano Valley High freshman Jordan Quinn, sending the ball 305 feet for a solo home run and a 0-1 victory for Mission Viejo High.

Softball field fences vary from 150 to 250 feet from home plate, according to the American Softball Association's rules.

So who hit the farthest softball home run on record? Hall-of-Famer Bruce Meade is the ASA record-holder with a 510-foot wallop in 1978 in Amarillo, TX.

As for Palomino, she told the newspaper she's never hit such a long-distance longball in her life.
