Solo Crash Blocks Freeway, Stalls Traffic In South OC Wednesday

MISSION VIEJO, CA — At least one lane on the Interstate 5 Freeway was blocked Wednesday morning after a solo car crash was reported on the freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash was reported at 10:52 a.m. on the freeway's HOV lane traveling southbound near Avery Parkway in Mission Viejo, according to authorities. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash involved a gray Tesla.

The incident prompted officials to issue a SigAlert at 10:58 a.m. The SigAlert is anticipated to last roughly an hour while authorities assess and clear the road.

The crash resulted in slow-moving traffic on the southbound side of the freeway stretching back as far as three miles.

No injuries were immediately reported.
