South OC Pop Warner Team Super Bowl Bound In Florida This Weekend

The Saddleback Valley Blue Bears will compete in the youth league's Super Bowl this weekend in Florida.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — A South Orange County Pop Warner football team is preparing to compete in the youth league's Super Bowl in Florida this weekend.

The Saddleback Valley Blue Bears will compete in the 10-year-old level in Orlando starting Saturday, the team posted on their Facebook page.

The Blue Bears finished undefeated in their regular season before losing the Orange Bowl, which dropped them down to the Division II championship. The boys won that championship on Nov. 19, according to their Facebook page, and the win ensured their position among roughly 70 teams vying for championship game.

The Blue Bears will play a minimum of two games, and winning both would place them in the final championship game in the Pop Warner Super Bowl in December, Kristin Bracic, mom of linebacker Sebastian Bracic, told City News Service.

The team has battled injuries all season and have just enough players to qualify for the championship. Bracic told City News Service that her son suffered a broken arm, but has been cleared to play football again.

"We've had an obscene amount of injuries on this team," Bracic said. "It was absolutely absurd how great we've done this season."
