Three Siberian huskies are waiting for their forever homes

Three amazing Siberian huskies are available for adoption at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center.

Frank is a 1 ½-year-old male red husky with one blue eye and one brown. Kimmy is a black-and-white female that is about 2 years old. Poseidon is also black and white and is 3 years old.
All three are typical of their breed and extremely friendly. Huskies have a unique and interesting history. They were originally developed by the Chukchi people of the Chukchi peninsula in eastern Siberia. They were brought to Nome, Alaska in 1908 to serve as working sled dogs and were eventually developed and used for sled dog racing. This breed remains genetically similar to many wolf populations, so huskies tend to act much like their wild counterparts.

Husky aficionados find this quite charming, but it may also lead to behavioral issues if the dog is placed in the wrong home. The husky breed loves to run, and the dogs can be escape artists if left alone in a yard. They also howl instead of bark, another problem if left alone for too long. However, with the right amount of exercise and consistency, these dogs make wonderful family members.
