Update: What's Up With the Marguerite Tennis Center?
The Marguerite Tennis Center is close to completion, but not quite finished according to the city.
The renovation is on track to open in August, with more courts, an updated clubhouse and more parking, Community Services Supervisor Brian Gruner said.
An update for the center has been on the city's master plan for 10 years, Gruner said.
It cost $4.7 million, according to a January estimate. Several have increased that original cost.

It's not quite ready to open, he said. Landscaping needs to be completed, nets and windscreens need to be put up and appliances and other minor things need to be added to the building.
The changes should be good for both tennis players and swimmers, Gruner said. The parking lot is larger in the back and safer for kids being dropped off for tennis or swimming, he said.

“We definitely made much better use of that area for both the swim complex and the tennis center," he said.
The roughly 40-year-old clubhouse has been rebuilt as well, and will remain the same size as the old building.
Along with the other changes, the tennis courts have been resurfaced. The fencing has been improved, too.
The lighting in the tennis court and back parking lot has also been made more efficient. Gruner said the older lights were "pretty outdated and cost quite a bit of money to run."
A grand opening is being planned, but a date has not yet been set, he said.
